It all started in 2018 when our VP of Business Development, Chris O’Neill, brought an idea to the table that has stuck with us ever since.
Initially, we envisioned it as a team-building exercise—bringing our team together, enjoying the spring outdoors, and tackling a challenge. However, it quickly evolved into something much more significant.
We wanted to expand our Goose Gives Back program, which we had been committed to for years, and this initiative perfectly aligned with our values and goals.
Our first year began with several runners and a group of walkers heading down Yonge Street, raising over $3,000 for Camp Ooch as part of the Sporting Life 10K race in Toronto. It not only unified our team but also touched our hearts when we received letters and a ‘thank you’ plaque from Camp Ooch.
The following year surpassed our expectations, raising even more funds and featuring Camp Ooch representatives on our podcast. We were profoundly moved by stories highlighting the critical impact of these funds on children with cancer. The ability to receive cancer treatments onsite at camp, allowing them to enjoy the beautiful Muskoka experience, was truly life-changing for these kids. During the pandemic, we continued our efforts by participating virtually, allowing more staff, especially those outside Toronto, to join in.
We now take part in the event, both running down Yonge Street and participating virtually from our other locations. The rebrand from Camp Ooch to Campfire Circle was something that we got to discuss on our second podcast (Episode 60), the joining together of Camp Ooch and Camp Trillium. Everyone feels a great sense of contribution and pride in our collective achievements. This year, one of our senior leaders, Kevin Butler, received his participation medal from a former camper and cancer survivor whose family is friends with his.

I am proud and grateful to announce that we have reached a milestone, raising over $20,000 to date. I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported our team, The Flock, over the years, and to our staff who have helped raise awareness and essential funds for this amazing organization.
Here’s to the next $20,000!
Sincerely,
Michael Turcsanyi
